This powerful new feature gives you, as an administrator, the ability to precisely manage the length of SMS messages sent by your users. By setting clear boundaries on message size, you can optimize your communication costs, ensure your messages are easily digestible by recipients, and maintain flexibility across different teams or communication scenarios.

Our new Flexible Message Limits feature helps you encourage concise messaging, preventing those lengthy texts that can sometimes lead to extra costs and reader fatigue. Now you can set the rules for keeping your SMS communications on point.

How It Works for You:

Setting up message length limits is straightforward and integrated directly into the administrative settings of your Conversation View Lightning Record Pages. Once configured, the system will automatically monitor message length as users type.

If a message exceeds the defined limit, a helpful warning will appear, guiding the user to shorten their text before sending.

Easy Configuration Steps:

Follow these simple steps to define your SMS message length limits:

  1. Access the Relevant Page: Navigate to the Lightning Record Page that contains the Conversation View component or the Bulk SMS Lightning tab you wish to manage.

  2. Enter Edit Mode: Click the Setup icon (gear icon) in the top right corner and select Edit Page.

  3. Select the Conversation View: Click on the Conversation View component on the page. Its settings will appear on the right.

  4. Locate the Limit Settings: Find the Message Limit and Unit fields within the Admin Settings section.

  5. Specify the Maximum Length: Enter the desired maximum number in the Message Limit field.

  6. Choose Your Unit of Measure: From the Unit dropdown, select either Segments or Characters based on how you want to define the limit.

  7. Save Your Settings: Click Save in the Lightning App Builder to apply your new message length rules.

  8. Activate Your Page (If Necessary): If you are making changes to an existing page or configuring a new one, you might need to activate it to make the settings live for your users.

Important Points to Keep in Mind:

  • Page-Level Control: Message limits are configured on a per-Lightning Record Page basis. This design provides you with the flexibility to implement different rules for different teams or communication flows, simply by configuring the Conversation View on the specific Lightning Record Pages they use. For instance, you can set one limit for your sales team's Lead record pages and another for your support team's Case record pages.

  • Understanding the Standard Contact Page: The default Contact page provided with MogliSMS is not editable. If you need to enforce message limits for users interacting with contacts, you'll need to create a custom Contact Lightning Record Page and add the Conversation View component to that custom page, where you can then configure the message limits.
