Using the WhatsApp Content Template Builder
Prerequisites
A Mogli representative must install and complete the initial configuration of the package in your Salesforce environment. Reach out to help@mogli.com for assistance with this step.
Mogli users leveraging the Content Template Builder must be assigned the permission set labeled [Mogli SMS] WhatsApp Content Template Builder Access.
Creating Mogli Templates for WhatsApp
Step 1: Create Your Mogli Template
Open the Mogli Template tab. (If you don’t see this, navigate to the MogliSMS Lightning app.)
Select “New” to create a new Mogli Template.
All that is required is a Name. Give the template a name, such as “WhatsApp Text Template”.
Click “Save”.
Tip
We recommend nesting WhatsApp-approved templates in their own Mogli Folder! To learn more about Mogli Folders, visit our dedicated Mogli Folders user guide article.
Step 2: Enable the Mogli Template for WhatsApp
Once the Mogli Template has been created, the record page will appear. The WhatsApp Content Template Builder will appear with just a toggle to enable the template for WhatsApp.
Click the toggle to enable the template for WhatsApp.
The builder will expand and two distinct sections will appear: Template Properties and Provider Properties.
Template Properties includes all the information to send to the provider. These properties are only editable until the template has been sent to the provider.
Provider Properties includes all the information retrieved from the provider. These properties are read-only and are updated from the sync with the provider. A preview of the message is also included.
If there are updates made to the template, an "Unsaved Changes" pill will appear at the top of the Template Properties section.
To begin, click on the dropdown "Content Type" to select the type of template to create. For a text template, select the “Text” option.
The Language field defaults to "en" for English.
Set the text of the template in the Message Text field.
Merge fields can be added to the message text using the appropriate Mogli syntax. When added, the builder will recognize the merge field and add it to a list of variables.
Each unique merge field recognized in the template requires sample data. Provide values for any and all merge fields in the template.
Click "Save Changes" to save the updates in the Mogli Template record.
A successful toast will appear when the template saves successfully. Additionally, the "Unsaved Changes" pill will disappear.
Step 3: Send the Template to the Provider
When ready to send the template to the provider for use with WhatsApp, click "Send to Provider"
A successful toast will appear when the template is sent to the provider successfully.
When the template has been sent to the provider, it can no longer be edited and Template Properties will be locked.
Information from the provider will be populated in Salesforce, including the Provider Template Id and Provider Friendly Name.
Step 4: Send an Approval Request to WhatsApp
Most content types require approval by WhatsApp to be used to sent outside of an existing session. To create an approval request, click the Category dropdown to select the corresponding WhatsApp category.
Select the "Utility" option.
To submit the approval request, click "Submit for Approval"
A successful toast will appear if the approval request was submitted successfully. Additionally, the Approval Status will be updated to "Received" and the WhatsApp Category will be displayed.
Step 5: Check for Approval Status Updates
The status of the approval request needs to be checked periodically in order to retrieve the most up-to-date information. Click the refresh icon on the status pill to refresh the Approval Status.
The Approval Status will update accordingly.
When the Approval Status is refreshed and there was no update to the status, an informational toast will appear indicating that the request completed but there was no change to the status.
If the request is approved, the Approval Status will indicate that it has been approved and the Availability will update.
